There are intergovernmental agreements with Kazakhstan on 4 tourist sites in Issyk-Kul, the State Property Management Agency said.

These are the sports and health camp KazGU, the sports and health center Olimp, the rest house Samal and the sanatorium Kazakhstan.

“The Kazakh side plans to attract investments for the development of these resorts in near future,” the agency added.

An agreement was signed in Astana on July 4, 2006, on the regulation of Kazakhstan’s property rights to resort and recreational facilities located in Issyk-Kul region.

An agreement was approved on the transfer of four resorts for long-term lease by the decision of the Parliament of Kyrgyzstan in 2009. The resorts were sports and recreation center Olimp (formerly Motorist of Kazakhstan) in Korumdu, Kazakhstan in Cholpon-Ata, Samal in Bosteri, and University.

Kyrgyzstan leased land plots in Issyk-Kul to Kazakhstan for 49 years in 2008.
