Head of Counternarcotics Service Ulanbek Sultanov took part in a regional meeting of experts on unmanned aerial vehicles and innovative technologies in Karakol.

The event was attended by UNODC Regional Representative Ashita Mitall, Head of the UNODC Program Office in the Kyrgyz Republic Andrey Seleznev, delegations from Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Russia, Belarus, representatives of CARICC, national government agencies.

On the first day, an exhibition of innovative equipment technology and a ceremony of transferring technical equipment to the Counternarcotics Service took place.

Ulanbek Sultanov delivered a welcoming speech, noting that “the use of UAVs in combating drug trafficking allows to quickly respond and track the growth of wild hemp in mountainous areas and make appropriate decisions.”

Further, the delegations got acquainted in the field with the practical application of UAVs and innovative technologies.

Within the framework of the meeting, a bilateral meeting was held with the Uzbek delegation headed by the director of the national information and analytical center for drug control Narzullaev Olim to discuss cooperation in the field of preventing the spread of new psychoactive substances, as well as drugs containing potent substances.
