Focus on Kyrgyzstan Held at Venice Film Festival


Focus on Kyrgyzstan was held at the Venice Film Festival on August 31, film critic Gulbara Tolomusheva announced.

A special screening of Dalmira Tilepbergenova’s film “Belek” (The Gift) was held at the festival. The film was presented by a creative team, which consisted of director Dalmira Tilepbergenova, producer Gulmira Kerimova and Honored Artist of the Kyrgyz Republic, theater and film actress Taalaikan Abazova.

The Kyrgyz film industry was presented at the introductory panel “Cooperation Strategies and Perspectives” at the Venice production bridge. The panel speakers were head of the International Department of the Department of Cinematography Elvira Mamytova, Chair of the Association of Cinema Owners of Kyrgyzstan and representative of Cinematica Kyrgyzstan Gulkair Tilenbaeva, film critic, member of FIPRESSI and NETPAK Gulbara Tolomushova, producer, member of the Pacific Ocean Academy of Cinematography APSA Gulmira Kerimova, and film director, playwright, board member of the Central Asian PEN Club Dalmira Tilepbergenova.

The Department of Cinematography, together with the Association of Cinema Owners of Kyrgyzstan, and the Italian Ministry of Culture/Cinecita established contacts with the assistance of the Embassy of Kyrgyzstan in Italy in 2022.

The sides have a draft intergovernmental agreement on the joint production of audiovisual products, according to Tolomusheva. The text of the agreement was coordinated with the ministries and departments of Kyrgyzstan and is currently being agreed with the Italian side. The signing of this agreement is planned as part of the Italian Film Festival in Bishkek, which will be held in early October, Tolomusheva added.
