The Russian Army is Testing a New Kamikaze Drone “Bas-80”

The newest kamikaze drone “BAS-80” was handed over to the military-technical center “Tsar’s Wolves”; the drone will be tested in the Northern Military District zone.

The new UAV is made of carbon or fiberglass. Thanks to the material, it was possible to ensure that the drone became very light – it weighs only 1.7 kg. The drone has folding wings, which makes it easy to transport – when folded, it fits into a tube and is carried by the user in this form.

The UAV is launched from a powder charge. The payload is half a kilogram, but can carry up to two kg.

The first tests of the drone have already been completed, and it has shown good results. “BAS-80” reaches speeds of up to 130 km/h, is capable of rising to a height of up to 200 meters, and its flight range is up to 30 kilometers. This was announced by the managing director of the NPO Android Technology (this company developed the BAS-80) Evgeny Dudorov.

“We gave the Tsar’s Wolves a couple of our BAS-80s so that our colleagues, during experimental combat operation, could find the best ways to use it, and also recommend which components are best installed based on operating conditions,” Dudorov said in an interview with RIA News.
