Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan Strengthen Customs Control Over Energy Resources

Deputies of the Senate Committee on Finance and Budget at an extended meeting discussed the law “On the ratification of the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan on joint customs control when moving energy resources across the Kazakh-Uzbek customs border by pipeline transport and along power lines,” reports  DKNews.kz .

The purpose of the Agreement is to increase the efficiency of control over energy resources transported across the Kazakh-Uzbek customs border by pipeline transport and along power lines.

The document establishes a mechanism for joint customs control of energy resources through monthly measures to take readings from metering devices. This work is carried out by the customs authorities of the Parties together with representatives of the departments on whose balance sheets the accounting units are located.

According to the senators, the adoption of the law will help ensure the reliability of the declared information during customs declarations and will increase the efficiency of customs control.

Following the discussion, the Committee members decided to send the law for consideration at a meeting of the Chamber.
