Türkiye to Consider Resuming Treatment of Kyrgyz Citizens Under Quotas


Minister of Health of Kyrgyzstan Alymkadyr Beishenaliev met with Minister of Health of Türkiye Fahrettin Koca on October 20.

The meeting took place within the framework of the 9th Turkish Medical World Congress, which is taking place in Istanbul these days, the Ministry of Health said.

The ministers discussed issues of bilateral cooperation in healthcare between Kyrgyzstan and Türkiye.

Alymkadyr Beishenaliev raised a question regarding the resumption of annual quotas for citizens of Kyrgyzstan to receive qualified medical care in Turkish clinics, which were suspended in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The construction of an additional building of the Kyrgyz-Turkish Friendship Hospital was discussed as well. It is being worked on by the Kyrgyz side. The Turkish side will provide advisory assistance and share experience in the construction of a transplantation department.

In addition, the minister spoke about the opening of the Kyrgyzpharmacy state enterprise under the Ministry of Health, which is engaged in the purchase and delivery of medicines directly from manufacturing plants at affordable prices and noted the ministry’s readiness for close cooperation in this direction.

Turkish Health Minister Fahrettin Koca assured that the Turkish side will consider the possibility of fully renewing quotas for Kyrgyzstanis. He expressed intention to assist in holding meetings with Turkish manufacturers of medicines and medical devices.

20 Kyrgyz doctors and nursing staff will study in Türkiye to implement the intergovernmental agreement following the meeting.
