Action in Protest Against Return of Ousted President Kurmanbek Bakiev Held in Bishkek


Relatives and close ones of those who died in April 2010 revolution appealed to President Sadyr Japarov in Bishkek.

They slammed the request of Chairman of Aikol Taza Koom Usunbiy Sheripbaev, who asked to return Kurmanbek Bakiev and to demand compensation from him for those killed and injured demonstrators in April 2010.

Relatives said they are outraged with such request. Bakiev was sentenced to 24 years in prison. “He changed his name, made business on robbed funds and now tries to get back to Kyrgyzstan. 13 years passed but our wounds are bleeding,” they said.Kurmanbek Bakiev was President of Kyrgyzstan in 2005-2010. He fled the country to Belarus after the April 2010 revolution. He was sentenced in several criminal cases, including shooting of demonstrators in April 2010.
