The Kazakh Ministry of Foreign Affairs hosted a Steering Committee meeting to plan the 2026-2030 Cooperation Program with UNICEF. The event brought together government representatives and UNICEF experts, co-chaired by Deputy Foreign Minister Akan Rakhmetullin and UNICEF Country Head Rashed Sarwar.
Deputy Minister Rakhmetullin praised the partnership, highlighting key achievements such as creating the Ombudsperson for Children’s Rights, launching the National Fund for Children, and introducing stricter measures against child violence. He tied these initiatives to President Tokayev’s reforms for a fair and open society.
UNICEF’s Rashed Sarwar emphasized the shared commitment to children’s rights, stressing that investments in education, healthcare, and well-being not only improve lives but also strengthen Kazakhstan’s global leadership.
Discussions focused on addressing challenges like child protection and improving access to quality education and healthcare. Both sides explored innovative approaches to enhance children’s welfare.
The meeting reaffirmed Kazakhstan and UNICEF’s dedication to their partnership. The new program was seen as a critical step toward improving children’s lives and achieving sustainable progress for the country.
