Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan discuss partnership, cooperation between parliaments

Bilateral document planned to be signed after talks, says Turkmen State News Agency

The Turkmen president and Azerbaijan’s parliament speaker on Wednesday discussed developing the bilateral partnership between Ashgabat and Baku and developing cooperation between their parliaments.

Turkmenistan’s Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Azerbaijan’s Sahiba Gafarova discussed “issues of expanding the Turkmen-Azerbaijani partnership in various fields” and “paid special attention to the development of inter-parliamentary cooperation,” the Turkmen State News Agency reported.

Gafarova, with her delegation, will meet with Gulshat Mammedova, head of lower house of Turkmen parliament, and hold talks with Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, chairman of the upper chamber of Turkmen parliament, during her visit to the Central Asian country.

“As a result of the talks, a bilateral document is planned to be signed,” the statement concluded.
