Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Akylbek Japarov took part in the Kyrgyz-German Day of Kyrgyzstan’s Economy in Hamburg Business Forum as part of his working visit to Germany.
He noted the dynamics of the political dialogue between the two countries at the highest level in recent years and stated that, in confirmation of his serious attitude towards the implementation of practical cooperation, he decided to personally come to Hamburg.
According to the official, trade turnover between the two states shows steady growth. If in 2020 it amounted to $65 million, then, according to preliminary information, for eight months of 2023 it reached $273 million.
As for foreign direct investment, in 2020 the volume was $3.6 million, and in 2022 it increased to $39 million.
«At the same time, we understand that the potential of bilateral cooperation has not yet been fully used and there are many opportunities for increasing it in the modern realities. We invite you, dear German friends, to actively participate in the implementation of projects covering the attraction of advanced technologies and innovations, management experience and the creation of systemically important enterprises. I personally want to assure all of you of our readiness for active and regular economic interaction both at the level of the public and private sectors,» Akylbek Japarov said.
He drew the attention of the business forum participants to the great potential of the republic in the trade, logistics and transport sectors. He also spoke about the start of a strategically important and large-scale project on construction of China — Kyrgyzstan — Uzbekistan railway. The head of the Cabinet added that the project will increase the trade, economic and transit potential of the Kyrgyz Republic.
«…Increasing the transit potential of Kyrgyzstan will largely contribute to expanding the capabilities of the so-called middle corridor, the value of which is gaining new significance. To resolve this issue, the state expresses interest in establishing international air communications with Germany, as well as its readiness to cooperate with German airlines. In order to open air traffic for foreign airlines, favorable conditions have been created at the international airports of the Kyrgyz Republic, including discounts at the initial stage of flight operations. Thus, opening of air communication between our states will contribute to the development of bilateral relations, including a positive impact on the increase in trade turnover and tourist flow,» he said.
Akylbek Japarov invited German entrepreneurs to take part in the reconstruction and construction of new transport and logistics hubs in the Kyrgyz Republic. According to him, the development of cooperation in the field of creating a laboratory for certification of agricultural products in Kyrgyzstan, which will be recognized in Germany and other countries of the European Union, also seems promising.
The official called on the German business community to consider the Kyrgyz Republic as a reliable business partner and invited them to active cooperation and joint implementation of large investment projects.
